The enrollment period for the 2011-2012 school year of the Calvary Episcopal Church Day School marks the beginning of the 92nd year the school has served the Charleston community in educating pre-school children. The day school was founded in 1920 by The Reverend Erasmus L. Baskerville, Vicar of Calvary Church 1913-1937.

The ABC Voucher approved day school is a BB Center with high scores on ABC evaluations. The center serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. Recently, the Calvary Day School was granted over $9,000.00 for materials and equipment. All teachers have early child care credentials. The director receives 20 hours and the teachers receive 15 hours of DSS training each year.

Using the Creative Curriculum, the day school offers the children Spanish (taught by a certified teacher), music and art, and at least three major field trips each year. In addition, the day school children have a plot at the Elliot Borough Community Garden and participant in chapel each Friday.
The school accepts children ages 2-5 and after school ages 6-12; the hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. on Monday-Friday.

The Calvary Episcopal Church Day School graduates tend to excel and remain on the honor roll at elementary schools. Also many of the school’s graduates become scaffolding leaders in the public school kindergarten environment. In fact, historically, the graduates from the day school have become some of our community leaders.
